Johhn Canavan left a message on May 21, 2020:
My most sincere condolences to the Boone family. Jim was one of the most likeable and liked persons to work for in NSA. To me personally he was both my mentor and a good friend. When I reluctantly resigned from the agency in 1977 for personal reasons we discussed my desire to return should that possibility ever occur. In 1980 I was able to consider rejoining and he immediately advanced the hiring action. It has been many years since each of us retired from both the agency and industry, but we have kept in touch over all of them.
John O' Hara left a message on May 20, 2020:
Jim was my supervisor at NSA on two different occasions, each about 2 years in duration. The first was when we were both pioneers in building and launching signals intelligence satellites. The second was when we were consolidating the U.S. Worldwide Electronic Intelligence collection and processing programs. He was a brilliant manager who led by example and never seemed to lose his temper. His contributions to the safety and welfare of our Nation will probably never be recognized. He was not only a mentor but also a dear friend. I personally owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude for the positive impact he had on my career. John O' Hara, Ph. D

Jim Boone was an honorable man whom I did not know well but respected greatly. As a good friend of his son, Cliff, I met Him a few time. He graciously took me and my son into the National Cryptological Museum for a private tour. Deepest condolences to family.
Jim Stanford left a message on May 15, 2020:
Jim was a dear friend and brother in Christ. I enjoyed so much our lunch's together and the bi-weekly Men's Fellowship meetings. I will deeply miss that fellowship and the joy of interesting conversation with him. He loved the Lord, his family and his country deeply and enjoyed talking about all of them.
