James “Jim” L. Kizziar, 66, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, at MedStar Georgetown Hospital.

Jim was born in Arkadelphia, AR in 1956, the son of Lindell G. Kizziar and the late Mamie L. Kizziar. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in computer science and served our country in the United States Army. Jim retired from working for the federal government and as a government contractor for the Department of Defense. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League of America, the NRA and the VFW. Most of all Jim loved spending time with family and friends and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

He is survived by his wife, Cherry, whom he married on December 22, 1973; daughters, Jennifer Kizziar, Melissa Smith; grandchildren, Jared Smith, Lindsay Nesmith, Bailey Smith and Zachary Smith and brothers, Kenny Kizziar and Michael Kizziar (Tathona).

Jim is preceded in death by his mother and sister, Kathy Joyce.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Jim at a later date.

I only had the pleasure to meet you once, at yours dad’s birthday this year, a few months later, I see where you say something about Lake Degray on Facebook. I invite you and your family to camp with us on Spring Break, not sure who was more excited when you booked your spot you or us. Lord knows I was looking forward to our camping trip but he had better plans for you. Again sending extra prayers and hugs.🥰

My sincerest condolences. I had the honor of working with Jim on several government projects. I always looked forward to seeing him and enjoying our discussions. I missed seeing him over the last few years but we would talk over the phone. I will miss his laugh and most of all his support. Rest well my friend. See you on the other side!

Deepest condolences to Cherry and family of Jim. For 4 years, I was fortunate to work side-by-side and travel the country with Jim, in which I have so many fond memories. Jim mentored me, showed me the “ropes”, as well the best places to eat.😊 I was brought to tears when Jim called me last month just to check in and see how I was doing. The care he had for others was everlasting. Jim was a great man, mentor, friend and will be missed by so many.

Eternal rest grant unto Jim, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
