James L. Braswell, Jr., 88 of Front Royal, VA, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Winchester Health & Rehab.

Jim was born in 1934 in New York, NY, the son of the late James L. Braswell, Sr. and Ethel (Veitch) Braswell. He was a high school graduate and served in the National Guard. Jim retired from the federal government as a Computer Programmer. He was an avid reader, a history buff, photographer and a very talented woodworker.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Karen Amaro (Sam); son, Peter J. Braswell (Jana); grandchildren, Dexter and Lily Braswell and sister, Phyllis Braswell (the late Thomas).

He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy who passed on January 19, 1997; his parents, his brother, Sylvester Braswell and canine companions, Katie and Lisa.

All services for Jim will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jim to any animal shelter of hospital of the donor’s choice.

I am sorry to learn of Jim's passing. I found him to be a kind and gracious man when I met him, his wife, Dorothy, and their children back in 1997.
