James “Jim” Joseph Bell Sr., age 90, residing in Winchester, Virginia passed away on March 21, 2021.

Born on July 6, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Alice and James Bell, Jim graduated from LaSalle (College) High School. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA.

He was married on November 22, 1956, to Marie E. Bell. After a short stint living in Philadelphia, they decided to make their home in Northern Virginia for 32 years. Jim retired in 1999 after a successful career in the Federal Government as a Patent Examiner with the Patent and Trademark Office. Jim and Marie retired to Doylestown, PA and then spent several years in St. Albans, Vermont before returning to Northern Virginia in 2015.

Jim spent his life devoted to his family; the love of his life, “Re” (deceased 2017), and their only child, James J. Bell Jr. During his final years of life he lived with his son and daughter-in-law, Lisa M Bell, and two granddaughters, Autumn and Josephine.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on April 6, officiated by Father John Riley of Sacred Heart Catholic Church followed by a private committal service at Saint John the Apostle Catholic Cemetery in Leesburg, Virginia. Due to COVID-19 protocol only immediate family members will attend.
