James J. Culver, 67 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at his home after a brief fight with cancer. He was a big guy with a big heart, big smile, and big love of life.
Jim was born in 1957 in Elmhurst, IL. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Shepherd University and served in the United States Air Force. Jim was an electronics engineer, who retired from a second career as a 7th grade social studies teacher at South Middle School in Martinsburg, WV. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf and his guitars, and traveling. Most of all, Jim loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Devlin; children, Bevin Sanborn (Chris), Adam Culver (Jolyn), Ryan Johnson, and Tara Johnson (Kristen); and four grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Jim on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 3pm to 5pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
