James was born in 1943 in Alabama, the son of the late, James Showers, Jr. and Anna Mae Showers.

He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Newlin (C.R.) of Winchester, VA; son, Jamie Showers (Buffy) of Front Royal, VA; grandchildren, Dane Newlin, Landon Showers; sisters, Sharon Day of Front Royal, VA, Evelyn Robinson of Front Royal, VA and his brothers, Wayne Showers of Front Royal, VA and Billy Showers of Grandbury, TX.

Services for James will be private.
