James H. Barr
James Henry Barr, 79, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Barr was born in 1931, in Frederick County, Virginia, the son of the late Clinton and Nellie Barr. He was the Owner and Operator of James H. Barr Builders for over 25 years, having retired in 1987. Mr. Barr attended Church of the Good Shepherd in Winchester, was active in the Shenandoah Valley Steam Engine Owners Association and the NRA. Mr. Barr was a Veteran having served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, achieving the rank of Sr. Airman.
His wife, Dorothy Ebersole Barr, whom he married on December 23, 1950, in Hagerstown, Maryland, preceded him in death on March 18, 1998.
Surviving are his daughter, Linda Feltner of Winchester, Virginia; sons, David Wesley Barr of Linden, Virginia, Jeffrey Allan Barr and James Robert Barr both of Frederick County, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Athena Barr of Frederick County, Virginia; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and his caregiver, Chatty Fogle of Frederick County, Virginia.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Reverend Dr. Ken Smith an Reverend Vernon Bray officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Robert Spielman, Charles Snapp, Charles Barr, Doug DeHaven, Mark Feltner and Tom Barr.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
