James Edwin Snow, Sr., 87, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at Winchester Medical Center.
James was born in 1936 in Elkton, VA, the son of the late Jack and Ruby Snow. He served our country in the United States Army. James retired after 28 years of service as a carpenter for Ricketts Construction, following his retirement he was a self-employed carpenter. He loved bluegrass music, metal detecting and building things for people. James also enjoyed restoring old homes. He loved anything Ford, especially, tractors, trucks and his special 1967, F100.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah, whom he married on May 30, 1990; step-daughter, Josephine Metcalf (Dan); step-sons, Pierce Plumly (Kimberly), Mitch Plumly; grandchild, Jamie Snow; great-grandchildren, Kyle Snow and twins, Daniel & Corey Snow; step-grandchildren, Penn Plumly, Bentley Plumly; sisters, Norene Frances Michael, Mary Maxine Ludwig, brother, Eugene Franklin Snow and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Snow; and other extended family members.
James is preceded in death by his infant sister, Christine Snow; sons, James E. “Jimbo” Snow, Jr., Jonathan Patrick “Jon Pat” Snow and brothers, Kenneth Rupert Snow and Paul Sherwood Snow.
A visitation will be held for James on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 11am with a service to follow at 12pm, all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Alan Morrison.
