James E. Dukate
James Edward “Jim” Dukate, 73, of Stephens City, Virginia, died August 17, 2010 in UVA Hospital in Charlottesville, VA.
Mr. Dukate was born in 1937, in Clarksville, Pennsylvania, the son of the late John Franklin and Mary Pearl Dukate. He was an Educational – Financial Director in Front Royal and Staunton, Virignia. Mr. Dukate was a member of Sherando Presbyterian Church in Stephens City, Elder of the Church and Past President of the Rotary Club in Staunton, Virginia. He was a graduate of Shenandoah University achieving a Bachlors degree in Business Education.
He married Mona M. Nicholson on March 20, 1961 in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Lynn Denise Heflin and husband, Daniel, of Stephens City, Virginia; Lori Deneen Dantzler and husband, Daniel, of Winchester, Virginia; four grandchildren, Christopher William Heflin and wife, Ashley, Katharyn Deanna Heflin, Zachary Tyler Dantzler, Joshua Allen Dantzler; his sister, Ruth McDowell of Clarksville, Pennsylvania; sisters-in-law, Anita Dukate of Rices Landing, Pennsylvania and Harriet Dukate of Lorain, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His sister, Evelyn Miller and husband, Charles and three brothers, Earl Dukate, and wife, Irene, John Dukate Jr., and Ralph Dukate, preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel in Winchester, VA with the Reverend Timothy Arnold officiating. Interment will be private.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Shining Stars Sunday School Class and Elders of the Church.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
The family request that no perfumes or lotions be worn to pay respects.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, The UVA Cancer Research Center, or Sherando Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
