James E. Ryan, 87 of Winchester VA, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
Jim was born in 1937 in Snyder, OK, the son of the late Ebenezer and Ethel Ryan. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Geology and Psychology as well as his Master’s Degree in Psychology from New Mexico Highlands University. Jim served our country during the Korean War Era as a Chaplain’s Assistant in the United States Army in Oklahoma. He was a member and eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and he belonged to the Knights of Columbus. Jim also sang in the Apple Capital Chorus group. He worked as a counselor and therapist at Grafton and during his younger years he was a taxicab driver in Tulsa. Jim was an avid fisherman, motorcycle rider and Denver Broncos fan. He also loved to sing.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Spicer Ryan whom he married on August 7, 1993, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Jim is preceded in death by sisters, Norah Figg and Moya Luster and his brother, Charles Ryan.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester, Virginia, with a memorial service to immediately follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
