James E. (Jim) Myers 78, passed away peacefully at home, Friday February 25th.
Jim was born in Danville, VA to Riley E. & Madeline B Myers. He graduated from Hargrave Military Academy, Class of 1963. Following his dreams of owning his own motorcycle business, he bought Valley Cycle Center in 1968. He was sole owner and proprietor until 2020 when he retired. Jim had many talents, he could repair or restore anything from his vision of how it should look and make it look new. It was once said by a friend of his “There’s a right way & a wrong way & Jim Myers way.” He collected and restored vintage motorcycles to perfection, especially BSA’s and Triumph. He particularly loved the old racing bikes.
Jim married Faye Pyne Myers, his wife of 42 years. They had two sons; James R. (wife Michelle) & Richard B. Myers (wife Becky) He was also the proud “Pappy” of five grandchildren, Riley, Sam, Abby, Ben and Everett. He had one sister, Madeline (Susu) Bearov and a brother William B. (Bill) Myers (wife Becky.)
