James D. Foster

                James Downing Foster, age 72, of Winchester, VA, died Saturday, August 31, 2013. Mr. Foster was born in 1940 in Little Washington, VA, the son of the late Luther Downing Foster and Eva Foster Ambrose. He was a master electrician, and had retired from S & S Electric. He was a gunsmith, and enjoyed landscaping and ground hog hunting. Mr. Foster was a member of Open Door Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He married Janet Clem on May 6, 1956 in Hagerstown, MD.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Anita Lemke and husband Rick, and Debbie Jenkins, both of Winchester, VA; grandchildren Nicholas Lemke and wife Tina, Matthew Jenkins and wife Bobbie, and Ashley Curbow; great granddaughter Gianna Lemke; sisters Betty Baker and Barbara Ambrose, both of Strasburg, VA, and brother Milton Foster of Strasburg, VA.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 5, at Open Door Baptist Church, 1437 Front Royal Pike, Winchester VA 22603, with Pastor Ken H. Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Open Door Baptist Church Building Fund.  Interment will be private.
