James B. Marco, Sr.
James Brent Marco, Sr., 78, of Cross Junction, Virginia, died Tuesday, February 8, 2011, in his home.
Mr. Marco was born in 1932, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, the son of the late Alexander S. and Lela B. Marco. He was an Engineer with AT&T retiring on December 5, 1988. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winchester, Virginia. Mr. Marco was a graduate of John Handley High School and was in the concert and marching band. In addition he played with the Les Arnold Dance Band. He was a Boy Scout Leader and a founding member of the Winchester Rescue Squad.
His first wife, Mary Jo Wright, the mother of his children, preceded him in death on April 25, 1987.
He married Flora Lee Marco on October 1, 1988.
Surviving with his wife are four sons, James B. Marco and his wife, Rhonda, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Jeffrey D. Marco and his wife, Melissa, of Loganville, Georgia, Brian K. Marco of Wardensvillle, West Virginia, Steven P. Marco and wife, Tammy, of Cross Junction, Virginia; two step-sons, William F. Bailey II and his wife, Kathy, of Cross Junction, Virginia; and James R. Bailey and his wife, Candace, of Centreville, Virginia; 14 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 6 step-great grandchildren; and his sister, Virginia Hancock and her husband, Michael, of Poughkeepsie, New York.
His daughter-in-law, Penny Marco preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
