Ivalee (Fitzwater) Hoffman, age 98, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, August 13, 2026, three days prior to her 99th birthday.

Born on August 16, 1927, in Nokesville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Arnold Grant Fitzwater and Edith (Garber) Fitzwater. Throughout her life, Ivalee, devoted herself to caring for her family as a homemaker and served her community as a substitute teacher.

A woman of the Brethren/Methodist faith, Ivalee took great pleasure in life’s simple joys. She was an avid reader, enjoyed baking and hosting dinners for family and friends.

In 1948, she married Burgess Lee Hoffman in Manassas, Virginia. They were married 72 years until his passing on February 28, 2020.

She is survived by her two sons, David L. Hoffman of Winchester, VA, and John B. Hoffman of Matthews, VA; and her two granddaughters, Meghan Hoffman, and Blaire Hoffman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Burgess Lee Hoffman.

My deepest condolences to the family of a truly great lady who taught so many of us the true meaning of caring and love. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by so many. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to care for such a wonderful lady. We shared many stories and special moments together, and every day she saw me, she would always ask how my family was doing. That simple question showed just how much she cared about others. She loved her family very much, and that love was evident in everything she said and did. It was an honor and a blessing to have known her and to be a part of her life. May her beautiful memory live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.
