Irene Anna Holloway
Irene Anna Walter Holloway, 77, of Winchester, Virginia, died Monday, January 18, 2010, in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Holloway was born in 1932, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna M. Walter. She was a teacher at Montgomery College as well as many other places including Thailand. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from St. Louis University and a Masters of Arts in Classics from the University of Oklahoma. She was of the Catholic faith and also attended Braddock Street United Methodist Church, Winchester. She was a volunteer at the National Zoo and Smithsonian Institute, where she was a founding volunteer of the annual Folklife Festival. She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, master knitter, avid reader, historian, and was also very interested in politics.
She married Harry C. Holloway, MD, of Rockville, Maryland in 1955.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Anna Holloway of Norman, Oklahoma, Harry Holloway and wife, Sara of Winchester, Virginia, and James Holloway and wife, Johnna of Chelsea, Michigan; and four grandchildren, Patrick Holloway, Evan Redland, Andrew Holloway, and Mattea Holloway.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Braddock Street United Methodist Church.
