Jeff Williams left a message on January 30, 2024:
Though my contact with Marie in the years since my childhood has fluctuated between non-existent to infrequent, and sporadic, I remember my years with her, Deetzie, Kaye, and Mark with lasting fondness. The family was my childhood, and in many ways, Marie was my second mother. She was a defender of all that needed defending. She was witty, mischievous, fun loving, full of life advice, and adventurous. At times she confided in me and she was always there to help me through difficult situations. She treated all on an equal standing regardless of age or social status. It was the best part of my early life to visit her home, spend time with my childhood best friend Mark, his sisters, and be surrounded by all of her animals and the love and joy that filled their home and experience innumerable adventures together. And, I will always remember one piece of advice in particular that became a guiding principle in my life and decision making, “Stick by your guns.”
