Ian L. Turner, age 38, of Winchester, Virginia, died Wednesday, Aug 8, 2012. He was in an accident while riding on his motorcycle across country to Sturgis, South Dakota. This trip was a lifelong dream.
Mr. Turner was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1974, the son of Eileen Herbison of Beaufort, South Carolina. While growing up he graduated from the Thomas Heyword Academy in Beaufort, SC. He was a 15 year employee of Columbia Gas Transmissions/NiSource. Ian held multiple certifications in his field of expertise. He was proud to be a “tower dog” by trade. He was honored to be a part of the PTG race team for several years. He had a love of knowledge, computer technology and travel. Ian and his wife, Kristine, owned and operated their business together, Plan Bee Artz (and photo booth) for the past 12 years.
He is survived by his wife, Kristine Suzzanne Turner, whom he married more than once, on Oct.3, 1998. Ian was a passionate motorcyclist. He was a dedicated/active contributor to his community. The traits that really stand out above the rest is, he was an incurably devoted husband and remarkable father.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughter, Fallon Zoe Turner, son, Donnovin Ramzee Turner, both of Winchester, mother in law, Ginny Baker of Winchester, his mother, Eileen Herbison of Beaufort, South Carolina; brother, Christopher Nichols and his family, all of South Carolina and several friends he called his brothers.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Sunday, Aug .19, 2012, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Shenandoah Valley, Stephens City, Va with Minister Paul Brittner and Reverend Larry Brooks officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon, from 3-6 pm, at the Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
