Hilda L. Bowman, 84, of Winchester, Virginia passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018, at Warren Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Bowman was born in 1934 in Gore, Virginia, the daughter of the late James and Ethel Barr. She was a manager at High’s Convenience Store and retired from Martins Grocery Store after 19 years of service. Mrs. Bowman was a member of the Women’s Eagles Auxiliary. She loved antiques, collecting dolls, decorating for the holidays, and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mrs. Bowman’s greatest love was her family. She was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd for over 25 years.
Her husband, Warren B. Bowman, Jr., whom she married August 2, 1952, preceded her in death in 2002.
Surviving is a daughter, Janet L. Bowman of Annandale, Virginia; sons, Warren B. Bowman, III of Winchester, Virginia and James P. Bowman (Tammy) of Ash, North Carolina; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, Roy Barr (Jane) of Winchester, Virginia; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Barr Gray of Bel Air, Maryland
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by brother, James Barr, and brother, Junior Barr and his wife, Lila.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10am – 12pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 12pm with Pastor Vernon Bray officiating. Entombment will follow at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
