Hershel Leroy Flood, 96 of Stephens City, VA, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023 quietly at home.

Hershel was born in 1927 in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late, Henry and Delia Flood. He served our country during WWII as Corporal in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947. Hershel retired from DuPont Fibers in the security department.

He is survived by his sister, Bert Flood of Fountain Hills, AZ; grandchildren, Shawn Baird (Jennifer) of Stephens City, VA, Jennifer Baker of Martinsburg, WV, Kristin Gulbronson (Michael) of Cape Coral, FL; great-grandchildren, Alex Baird, Madyson Gulbronson, Jax Baird, London Gulbronson.

Hershel is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Freda O’Berry Flood; children, Sheryl Baird, Cynthia Flood, Keith Flood and brothers, Carl Leon and James Flood.

The family will have a private memorial service for Hershel.

I grew up in church with Leroy & Frieda. They loved each other very much and were such a Godly example of love. I can’t believe Leroy is gone. I’m so sorry for your loss, but I’m grateful to have known him. They both touched my heart in so many ways and I think of them both often. I just know they’re holding each other tight in Heaven.
