H. Jennings Stotler, Sr.

        Herbert Jennings Stotler, Sr., Age 95, of Winchester, Virginia, died Sunday, August 10, 2014, at his home in Westminster Canterbury.

Mr. Stotler was born in 1918, in Whitacre, Virginia, the son of the late Jennings Bryan and Mabel Hazel Stotler.  He was a Veteran having served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II, achieving the rank of Sergeant. During his tour of duty he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and the American Theatre Service Medal. Mr. Stotler was a graduate of George Washington University receiving a degree  in Electronic Engineering.  He was employed as an Engineer with NASA participating in the First Flight Space Program.  He was a DAV Life member, Who’s Who of Engineers and has been published in several articles.

He married Mary Frye on December 24, 1939, in Winchester, Virginia, she preceded him in death on April 10, 2009.

Surviving are his daughter, Mary Ann Weathington and husband, Kerry, of Herndon, Virginia; sons, Herbert Jennings Stotler, Jr. and wife, K.D., of Warrenton, Virginia, Bryan W. Stotler and wife, Nancy of Winchester; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and his sister, Ruth Crum Stotler of Winchester.

One grandson, Bryan C. Stotler, preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00-7:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel Winchester, Virginia.

A Memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Vernon Bray officiating.  Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
