Henrietta Delgado Cantu, 88, of Clear Brook, Virginia, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018, in Winchester, Virginia. Mrs. Cantu was born in 1929, in San Antonio, TX, the daughter of the late Trinidad and Celedonio Delgado. She married Esteban Cantu on February 20, 1954, in San Antonio, TX. Surviving with her husband of 64 years are her daughters, Elizabeth Johnson (John) of Annandale, VA, Teresa C. Shirnia of Clear Brook, VA; son, Steve A. Cantu (Nectar) of Winchester, VA; grandchildren, Andria M. Cantu (Max) of Chicago, IL, Stephanie C. Schneider (Adam) of Denver, CO, Teresa M. Cantu of Dubai, UAE, Steven A. Johnson of Alexandria, VA, and Katie L. Johnson of Arlington, VA; and her brother, Dr. Richard Delgado (Daniele) of Floresville, TX. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by two sisters, Stella D. Galvan, Helen D. Garcia and two brothers, Nino Delgado and Rudolph Delgado.
Mrs. Cantu was a graduate of Trinity University, Baptist Memorial School of Nursing, in San Antonio, TX, receiving a Nursing Degree. She was a retired Registered Nurse who worked in hospitals in Ft. Worth, TX and in Fairfax County, VA. She also worked as a Public Health Nurse in Prince William County, VA. She attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester, VA.
Mrs. Cantu cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed quilting, antique shopping, gardening, holiday baking, painting, crafting, and watching the Washington Nationals and Redskins.
Henrietta’s family will receive friends at the family home on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. For information regarding the address, please e-mail her son, Steve, at sacantu78@gmail.com. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 9, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Rev. Bjorn C. Lundberg officiating.
