Helen R. Kiker
Helen Rose Dries Kiker, 80, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012, in Blue Ridge Hospice.
Mrs. Kiker was born in 1931, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Alexander and Nerine Dries. She was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester. She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Helen was very active throughout her life with many volunteer organizations including libraries, weaving guilds and many charitable thrift shops. Mrs. Kiker’s family wishes to express the most sincere gratitude to the staff and friends at Godfrey Miller House for the years of enrichment they have provided to Helen throughout her retirement years.
Her husband, William Edward Kiker, whom she married on February 1, 1958, preceded her in death on November 15, 2002.
Surviving is her daughter, Betsy Kiker and her husband, Michael Ovington, of Herndon, Virginia; two sons, David Kiker and his wife, Helen, of Redmond, Wisconsin, Michael Kiker and wife, Angie, of Ripon, United Kingdom; six grandchildren; Eleanor, Alex, Andrew, Maggie, Kathleen and Charlotte and one brother, Michael Dries of Hopkins, Minnesota.
One sister, Mary Pfister and one brother, Tom Dries, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 3, 2012, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church.
