Helen P. Smith

Helen Jacqueline Pyne Smith, 90, of Frederick County, Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 13, 2013.

Mrs. Smith was born in 1923, in Oella, Maryland, the daughter of the late John P. and Florence Pyne. She was employed by Valley Health System retiring in 2006. Mrs. Smith was a member of Winchester Grace Brethren Church. Helen will be remembered for her devotion of faith and the love of her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She married Ernie Wesley Smith on November 7, 1945, in Hagerstown, Maryland. Mr. Smith preceded her in death in 2009.

Surviving is her daughter, Susan Smith of Winchester; son, Greg Smith and his wife, JoAnn, of Stephens City; four grandchildren; Shelly Sims, Steven Link, Heather Vrooman and her husband John, and Cory Smith; and three great grandchildren. Two sisters, Esther Swartz, Alice Hollis and one brother, Phillip Galloway, preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Reverend Kevin Mincy officiating. Interment will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.
