Helen Louise (Boyce) McFarland, 73, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at University of Virginia Hospital.
Mrs. McFarland was born in 1945 in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Branson and Twilby Boyce. She was a homemaker, dedicating her life to her family. Mrs. McFarland was always in charge of Thanksgiving, when the family gathered together to enjoy good food and unforgettable family time….they always looked forward to her famous pumpkin rolls. She enjoyed playing Bingo, watching professional wrestling, and never missed General Hospital. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister that will be sorely missed.
Her husband, James Lee “Jimmy” McFarland, Sr., whom she married on May 8, 1963 in Winchester, Virginia, preceded her in death in 2016.
Surviving are daughters, Angie Smith (David) of Stephens City, Virginia, Sherry Whitlock (Roger) and Jaime Pingley (Jy) both of Winchester, Virginia, Lori Hyre (John) of Martinsburg, West Virginia; son, James “Jimbo” McFarland, Jr. (Becky) of Gerrardstown, West Virginia; grandchildren, Michael Edwards, II, Kelly Ransom, James Lee McFarland, III, Katie Smith, Alex and Adam Hyre, Jaleia Nelson, and Amari Nelson; great-grandchildren, Maddisen and Paxton Lahr, Jaxson and Kennedy Ransom; sisters, Betty Kerns, Gloria Jenkins (Harold), and Debbie McFarland (Danny) all of Winchester, Virginia, Jane Estes of Front Royal, Virginia, Sarah Ramey (David) of Rixeyville, Virginia, and Bonnie Clark of Inwood, West Virginia.
Along with her parents and husband, Jimmy, she was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Hillyard, Alice Plum, Patsy Braithwaite; and brothers, Lawrence and Paul Boyce.
A gathering of friends and family will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Sunday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Reverend Steve Melester officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum, Winchester, Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Edwards, II, James Lee McFarland, III, Alex Hyre, Adam Hyre, Kelly Ransom, and Katie Smith.
