Hazel Shanholtz

Hazel Richardson Shanholtz, 81, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012, in a local nursing facility, after a 2 year battle with dementia.

Mrs. Shanholtz was born in 1930, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, the daughter of the late James and Mildred Richardson. She was employed at Winchester Hospital in the Business/Administration office, retiring after 37 years of service. Mrs. Shanholtz was a member of First Baptist Church and a graduate of Handley High School, Class of 1948.

She married Roy E. Shanholtz in Winchester, Virginia and they were married for 43 years.

Surviving with her husband are her sons, Phillip Rush, Timothy Rush and wife, Sally, all of Winchester; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and sister, Jane Tate of Danville, Virginia.

Her son, James “Randy” Rush, sister, Clara Roberts and brother, Jessie Richardson, preceded her in death.

A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, at 1:00 PM, in Shenandoah Memorial Park with Reverend George Fletcher officiating.
