Hazel M. Fries
Hazel Matilda DeHaven Fries, age 95, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, in Winchester Medical Center.
Hazel was born in 1919, in Frederick County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Joel H. and Dora E. DeHaven. Hazel was a homemaker, loving Mother and Nana. She attended First Presbyterian Church and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Hazel married Boyd Bell Fries on May 13, 1938, in Winchester. He preceded her in death on May 14, 1960.
Surviving is a daughter, Sandra Diane Fries Miller and husband, Ron, of Winchester; grandchildren, Todd Frederick Miller (Brenda) of Glen Allen, VA, Stacey Miller Iden (Alexander) of Winchester, VA, Lori
Fries Dulyea (Dan) of Inwood, WV, Joel Edward Fries (Michele) of Spotsylvania, VA, and Gary Ronald Fries, Jr. (Jennifer) of Forest, VA; and great grandchildren, T. Austin Miller, Spencer Miller, Morgan Boxwell, Emily Iden, Samuel Iden, Conner Anderson, Tyler Fries, Bethany Fries, Trevor Fries, Olivia Fries, and Lilliana Fries.
Preceding her in death are her son, Gary Ronald Fries, Sr. and four brothers, Albert, Richard, Mervil and Howard DeHaven.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Richard Reifsnyder officiating. Interment will be private.
