Harry Rollings Hodgson, a U.S. Army veteran formerly of Winchester, VA, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Burke Health and Rehabilitation Center in Burke, VA. He was 92.

Born at home on October 12, 1933, in Mt. Falls, VA, he was the son of the late Laban and Boleyn Sale Hodgson.

Harry graduated from James Wood High School in Winchester, VA, with the Class of 1952. After serving in the Army, he worked for the federal government at Fort Belvoir, VA.

Harry enjoyed spending his free time with family and pursuing woodworking projects. He was especially proud of building furniture and creating project kits for children’s camps at his church, Mountain View United Methodist Church. Harry faithfully watched every televised Washington Nationals baseball and Washington Commanders football game and will be remembered as one of their most devoted fans.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Betty Jane Hawkins Hodgson of Woodbridge, VA, his daughter, Deborah (Debi) Hodgson Blakley and her husband, Jimmie of Fredericksburg, VA, his son, David and his wife, Joyce of Woodbridge, VA, and his daughter, Donna Sue Eckert and her husband, Billy of Woodbridge, VA. Harry is also survived by five grandchildren: Russell Blakley of Sterling, VA; Amy Hodgson Willey and her husband, Christopher, of Leesburg, VA; Sara Hodgson Al-Ali and her husband, Adam, of Chesterfield, VA; Rebecca Hodgson Nix and her husband, Dallas, of Chesterfield, VA; and Austin Eckert of Woodbridge, VA. He also leaves nine great-grandchildren: Emma Willey, Ava Willey, Lucas Willey, Jordan Al-Ali, Noah Al-Ali, Parker Nix, Cooper Nix, Adelyn Blakley, and Madelyn Blakley.

Harry was preceded in death by his two sons, Robert Clay and Harry Rollings; his grandson, James Rollings Blakley; his sister, Mary Velma Hodgson Ashwood; and his twin brother, Lewis Allen Hodgson.

A visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, 1260 Front Royal Pike, Winchester, VA, with Reverend Mike Pettry officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, 305 E. Boscawen St., Winchester, VA.
