Dr. Gope D. Hingorani
Dr. Gope Hingorani, 76, of Winchester, Virginia, died Tuesday, October 30, 2012, in Winchester Medical Center.
Dr. Hingorani was born in 1936, in Karachi, Pakistan, the son of the late Dunichand and Laxmi Hingorani. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from George Washington University, a Master’s Degree from MIT and a PhD from Purdue University. He was an Engineer for Mitre Corporation in Bedford, MA and assigned to NATO in Brussels, Belgium, where he worked and lived for 20 years.
He married Linda Wood from Nokesville, VA on December 31, 1987, in Delhi, India.
He is survived by his wife and his two daughters, Sheila Hingorani and husband, Michael Royston, of Chelmsford, MA, Neila G. Hingorani of Milton, MA; three step-sons, Thomas Long and wife, Paula, of Culpeper, Keith Long and wife, Catherine, of Richmond, Kevin Long and wife, Lynn, of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Samuel and Spencer Royston; step-grandchildren, Kristen Beichler, Daniel Long, Matthew Long, Anna Long, Calvin Long, Adam Long and Adia Long; sisters, Mira Vachani and husband, Nand, Shanta Wadwani, all of Delhi, India.
Gope spent many hours exercising, meditating, and walking the boardwalk at his vacation home in Virginia Beach. His interests included politics, researching financial markets and relaxing with his many cats.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
