Goldie was predeceased by her husband Kenneth M. Kieffer. They were married for 58 years before his death in 2000. She was the daughter of Charles and Lula Bower, and was also predeceased by one granddaughter, Kimberly Kieffer Chapman as well as 4 brothers, Ervin Bower, LeRoy Bower, Clarence “Bud” Bower and an infant brother, and 3 sisters, Mae Paul, Mabel Wolfgang, and Mary Shrawder. Goldie is survived by all of her children, 4 sons and 3 daughters: Kenneth M. Kieffer, Jr., Samuel Kieffer, Joan Brewer, Connie Gregory, Roger Kieffer, Jeffrey Kieffer, and Robyn Wilson. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.
To say that Goldie was a consummate mother and homemaker would be an understatement. She’ll be remembered for how her every act in life reflected a selfless dedication to her family. As an example, she loved to cook, and enjoyed most of all cooking or baking something special for each of her children and grandchildren when they visited.
Her daughter Connie lovingly cared for her the last 7 years of her life. Connie’s husband, Don and their daughter Kristina along with Goldie’s other daughters, Joan and Robyn, also provided assistance with her care in recent years. The family gives them and everyone else who cared for Goldie their sincere gratitude.
A very special thank you to everyone from Blue Ridge Hospice for all of their care and support during Goldie’s final days.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 12 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Blue Ridge Grace Brethren Church, 1025 Cedar Creek Grade, Winchester, Virginia 22602. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at the same location at 3:00 PM with Pastor Darrel Taylor officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork St. Suite 405, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
