Glynn Harold Owens
Mr. Glynn Harold Owens, 89, of Winchester, Virginia, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 in Berryville, VA.
Mr. Owens was born in Raven, Kentucky, in 1926, the son of the late Elisha and Frances Owens. He held an Associate Degree in Business Administration. He was a veteran of WWII, Korea, and the Cuban Missile Crisis and served with the United States Navy for 20 years, and was a civil servant for 30 years, retiring from NAVCOMMSTA in Cheltenham, MD. Glynn was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, the Patuxent Masonic Lodge #218 in Upper Marlboro, MD, the Scottish Rite in the District of Columbia, and the Order of the Eastern Star.
He enjoyed gardening, especially tomatoes, loved telling sea stories, going for walks and would always be donating his time to do things for other people.
He married Pauline Owens on June 16, 1952 , in Hindman, KY. Mrs. Owens preceded him in death on April 3, 2014.
He is survived by a daughter, Joy Owens Putman and her husband, Terrill, of Georgetown, TX, a son, David Glynn Owens, and his wife, Sherri Smith, of Winchester, VA, and a brother, Clifford Owens and his wife, Doris, of Cherry Hill, NJ. Mr. Owens is also survived by grandchildren, Jennifer Joy Owens of Cross Junction, VA, Mikayla Renee Owens and Mackenzie Lynn Owens of Winchester, VA, and a nephew, Jack Wicker and his wife Sandy, of Knoxville, TN.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Winchester, Virginia.
