Glen Allen Updike, 66, of Springfield, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at his home.
Glen was born in 1957 in Front Royal, VA, the son of the late Sherman and Mable Updike. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Perry Engineering. Glen loved going to Winchester Speedway and loved NASCAR, especially cheering for Kyle Busch. He loved hunting and fishing and being by the water. Glen enjoyed working and tinkering on his lawn mowers as well as his automobiles. He also enjoyed going to and entering Antique car shows, listening to bluegrass and Bob Seager. Glen was very fond of playing horseshoes and would often place during competitions. He was most proud of his 1957 Chevy Pick-up.
He is survived by his wife, Lois “Genene”, whom he married on August 28, 2004, his sons, Shane Updike, Chris Rutherford (Lori), granddaughter, Hali Rutherford and sister, Delores Updike and his canine companion, Liddy. Glen will be missed by family and his many loving friends.
Along with his parents, Glen is preceded in death by his brother, Larry Updike and his sister, Charlotte Updike.
A visitation will be held for Glen on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 5pm to 7pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. A graveside service will be the following day, Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 1pm in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Tom Bucy, Chris Rutherford, Jim Titchnell, Sammy Smith, Dwayne Day and Herbie Cofflet, with Daryl Day and Russell Corbin as honorary pallbearers.
