Glen Adam Smith

Glen Adam Smith, 68 of Stephens City, Virginia, died Thursday, February 11, 2010, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Smith was born in 1941, in Uppertrack, West Virginia, the son of the late Adam and Zella Smith. He was a retired employee of FEMA and previously the owner and operator of Glens Gulf Service Center in Stephens City, Virginia. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War while stationed in Korea. Mr. Smith attended Stephens City United Methodist Church.

His wife, Dru Ellen Gillum Smith, preceded him in death on January 23, 2004.

Surviving are his sons, Jimmy Smith and his wife, Genet, and their children, Forrest and Blake Smith, Ashlyn and Kara Thacker, all of Stephens City, Virginia; Eric E. Smith his significant other, Cheryl Smith and her son Garrett, all of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia; four sisters, Pauline, Birdy, Hazel and Esta, and one brother, Dayton. He is preceded in death by four other siblings.

A funeral service will be conducted on at 11:00 AM, Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Jason Duley officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel

While I was a mail carrier for Glens route I always looked forward to his smile, he wa always happy and nice to me. My husband grew up in Stephens City and had known him for years. He always speaks fondly of Glen as does his entire family. We are so sorry for your loss. Glen will be missed by many. The Johnsons Family. ( Jimmy, Joan, Ethan,Lawrence and Frances)

Jimmy, Eric and family: I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. I still have pictures of your Glen, Dru, Forrest and Blake. There is hardly a day that goes by that I don't think about them. If there is anything that you need, please give me a call. I didn't get the information until after everything was over and done. I just feel so heart broken.
