Gerry L. Golladay Sr., age 74, of Woodstock, Virginia, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side at his residence on Friday morning, June 5, 2026.
Gerry was born on July 26, 1951, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late William Lester Golladay Jr. and Charlotte Lee (Grandstaff) Golladay. He was a proud graduate of James Wood High School, Class of 1971, and later attended Lord Fairfax Community College.
A dedicated veteran, Gerry honorably served his country in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division, achieving the rank of E4/Sp4 while stationed at Fort Bragg, and further served in the Army National Guard as a Sp5. Following his military service, Gerry went on to have a fulfilling career. He worked early on at his father’s shop, Bill and Bill’s Auto Service in Winchester, and later worked for Cypress Gardens (now Legoland) and Ferguson Industries. He ultimately retired from Rubbermaid after dedicating 28 ½ years as a Maintenance Mechanic.
Gerry was a faithful member and building and grounds supervisor for many years at My Church in Woodstock, Virginia. He was a true jack-of-all-trades who loved fixing things. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, fishing, camping, and gardening. Gerry loved trains and was an avid coin and gun collector. Above all else, he cherished his family and his faith in the Lord, and it was in the quiet moments shared with those he loved that both were most beautifully reflected.
He married the love of his life, Deborah B. (Burke) Golladay, on September 7, 1974, in Winchester, Virginia. Together, they shared nearly 52 years of marriage and a beautiful life.
Along with his wife, Deborah, he is survived by his children, Gerry Lee Golladay Jr. (Tanya) and Danielle Lynn Jones (Joey) and his five grandchildren, Eric Bryce Golladay (Lidiya), Benjamin Tyler Golladay, Braelyn Daisy Jones, Maddy H. Jones (Brian Mueller), and Carson Taylor Jones (Amanda); and his great-grandson, Anderson Bailey Jones. He is also survived by his twin brother, Terry Lester Golladay (Nancy); his nephew, Mark Lester Golladay (Whitney) and their daughter Aurora Jade; his brother-in-law, Douglas Edward Burke (Debbie); and close family friends, Nancy “Nan” Ellen Cates and Deborah Bly Burke (Keith Roberts).
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. A funeral service will follow immediately at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tony Alan Bates officiating. Burial will be private.
