Gerald Franklin Brannon Sr., 73 of Stephens City, VA, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, peacefully at his home.
Gerald was born in 1951 in Winchester, the son of the late Earl and Shirley Brannon. He began working at the young age of 14 doing various jobs and would eventually retire from the Frederick County Public School System where he was employed as a janitor at Sherando High School for 14 years. In his spare time, Gerald enjoyed going to yard sales and spending time with his family.
He married Shirley Ann Renner on April 4, 1975, and they were blessed with 50 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife Shirley, Gerald is also survived by his daughters Kathy Cook (David) and Patricia Wiest (Rick); son Gerald Brannon Jr. (Jackelyn); grandchildren Melissa Cook, Jayla Brannon, Isaac Brannon, Faith Wiest, Hayden Brannon, Hunter Wiest and Kaleb Brannon; great-grandchildren Jessye Cameron and Finley Brannon; sister Betty Cochran (Bobby) and his brother Earl “Chuck” Brannon Jr.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was also preceded in death by his brother Roger “Ronnie” Lee Collier.
A visitation will be held for Gerald on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 1pm with a service to follow at 2pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Phil Roby officiating. Entombment will be private at a later date at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
