Gerald “Jerry” D. Dusing, Sr., 71, of Bunker Hill, West Virginia passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at his home after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Mr. Dusing was born in 1946 in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Holmes and Love Dusing. He graduated from Musselman High School, Class of 1965. Mr. Dusing was employed at Rubbermaid Commercial Products, retiring in 2010 after 37 years of service. He was a member of the NRA and when his son was in high school in the 90’s he was a member of the Musselman Band Boosters. Jerry was a “jack of all trades”, always willing to help anybody, especially with their car repairs – he loved working on cars. He enjoyed fishing, loved traveling with his family to North Carolina, and enjoyed Southern Gospel music and Hank Williams, Sr. His greatest joy in life were his grandchildren. A loving father, brother, and grandfather that will be loved and missed.
Jerry married Janie Mae Foster on December 2, 1966 in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his loving wife of 50 years is daughter, Sherri Castleman of Inwood, West Virginia and son, Gerald “Doug” Dusing, Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; grandchildren, Brittany Castleman of Inwood, West Virginia; Savannah and Austin Dusing of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; and sisters, Barbara Carbaugh of Winchester, Virginia and Dorothy Darby and husband, Bob of Falling Waters, West Virginia.
Jerry was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jane Dusing and brother, Ralph Dusing.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor David Palmer, Pastor Tim Hunt, and Reverend Ralph C. Campbell, III officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Dusing, Robert McFarland, David McFarland, Roger LeHew, Kenneth Ring, and James Ruffner. His friends and coworkers from Rubbermaid will be serving as honorary pallbearers: Gerald Whitacre, Robert Mauzy, Charles Boyd, James DeHaven, and Bob Williams.
