George W. Coddington, Sr.

George William Coddington, Sr., 80, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Mr. Coddington was born in 1930 in Oakland, Maryland, the son of the late William Thomas and Bertha Jane Coddington. He was an Accountant with R.G. Griffith Company retiring in 1993. He was a graduate of Salem High School, Salem, Ohio, Class of 1951. Mr. Coddington was a Veteran having served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

He married Frances M. Cogley on September 23, 1954, in Oakland, Maryland.

Surviving with his wife, is his daughter, Frances M. Payne and husband, Kenneth; son, George William Coddington, Jr., all of Manassas, Virginia; four grandsons; two sisters, Lois Neilsen and Marjorie Sisler; and four brothers, Lowell Coddington, Richard Coddington, Larry Coddington and Ronald Coddington.

One sister, Ilda Jean Hicks, preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be conducted, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Oakland, Maryland, with Reverend Chip Lee officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
