I am praying for the Burgess family as you mourn the loss of your husband, father, and grandfather. I have wonderful memories of being a guest in the home of Joan and George while he and Nora prepared a fabulous meal for us. What a joy to hear all about family travels and experiences. I hope you can all take comfort in the difference he made in so many lives.

George was truly one of a kind! I have been friends with his daughter Phebe since college and have spent many wonderful times with George and Joan and they are like family. George loved his large and extended family and was a very proud grandfather. Nora was a special gift to Phebe and we have been grateful to be a part of their lives. George was so creative and talented in his woodwork and will be remembered for his work at the farm and making apple butter every fall. He had the nick name of "Skippy" for his many sailing adventures.I will always remember a lovely day sailing with him on a little lake where they lived in 1980. He had a large spirit that will now join the universe! Sail on Skippy......

Chris and I will always remember our visits to Virginia to see Phebe (and later Nora too) and the kindness and hospitality George and Joan extended to us. Like we were family. And the joy in their faces when they, and Phebe, returned from China with Nora, and stayed with us here to the Pacific Northwest with their new baby granddaughter. Very happy grandparents. Cheers to you George! And to Joan too!
