George Franklin Nelson, Jr. “Ug”, 62, of Stephens City, Virginia passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Nelson was born in 1954 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Evelyn and George Nelson, Sr. He was a graduate of Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in Palos Hills, Illinois and employed at Valley Proteins, Inc. Mr. Nelson was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed his Ford F150 truck, woodworking, fishing, and loved being outdoors; he also enjoyed watching baseball (Chicago Cubs being his favorite team) and football, where he cheered on the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens. Mr. Nelson was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
George married Sheila Goodman on October 10, 1986 in Dallas, Texas.
Surviving with his loving wife of 31 years is a daughter, Keri Dawn Worth and husband, Sam; grandchild, Dakota Worth; sisters, Louise Colacino and husband, Frank; Debbie Atencio; and Evelyn Lupton and husband, Dave; sister-in-law, Jessica Renee Hopkins and husband, Robert; niece, Rebecca Smith and husband, Curtis; and ever faithful, Bronson, his K-9 companion.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 pm to 8 pm on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 am on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia.
