George Albert Meyer, 72, of Winchester, Virginia died Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Meyer was born in 1941 in Passaic, New Jersey, the son of the late Herman and Mary Meyer. He was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was employed as a handyman for Grafton Schools until his retirement in 2008. George was a loving father and grandfather, he was known for the love of his friends and family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are four daughters, Brenda Schneider and husband, Ken of Alma, GA, Jenny Fletcher and husband, Daniel of Camp Lejeune, NC, Rachel Durbin and husband, Timothy of Winchester, VA and Mary Meyer of Stephens City, VA and seven grandchildren; Matthew, Nicole, Shaun, Charlize, Chavon, Jennifer and Ashley.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Meyer and William Jogan.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Military Honors will be afforded by local V. F. W. Post # 2123. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park at a later date.
