Georgann Myrtle Ulmer Welsh, 70, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Saturday, May 13, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer .
Mrs. Welsh was born in 1947, in Philadelphia (South Philly), Pennsylvania, the daughter of Myrtle and the late George P. Ulmer, Sr. She was employed by Frederick County Public Schools as a cafeteria aide at Red Bud Elementary School and later as a custodian at Millbrook High School, retiring in March of 2009. Mrs. Welsh was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester. She was an avid bingo player who loved people and enjoyed having fun and laughing with her friends and family. She also loved the beach and crafting. Mrs. Welsh dearly loved her family – especially her granddaughter, Kelly.
Her husband, William M. Welsh, whom she married on April 30, 1966, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, preceded her in death in September of 2011.
Surviving with her mother, Myrtle, is a daughter, Patricia “Trish” Lowery (Earl) and granddaughter, Kelly Lowery of Winchester, Virginia; sister, Rose McCollum (late Danny); brother, George Ulmer, Jr. (Barbara) all of Villas, New Jersey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, from 5:00-8:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 am on Monday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
