Gary Lee Clark
Gary Lee Clark, age 68, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017, in Winchester Medical Center.
Gary was born in 1949 in Winchester, the son of the late Preston Arlington Clark and Frances H. Clark. He had worked as a police officer in Winchester and Frederick County, Virginia as well as Paw Paw, West Virginia. Gary was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. He attended the Peoples Country Church and was a lifetime member of Millwood Station Rescue Squad. Gary was a member of the Eagles Club, American Legion, VFW, and Moose Club. He loved NASCAR, corvettes, and going to car shows with the Valley Cruisers.
Gary married Nancy H. Ricketts in Hagerstown, Maryland on April 27, 1977.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are a son, Matthew Lee Clark; sisters, Nancy Clark Bishop (Gregory) and Judy Spurling (Dave); brothers, Bruce Allen Clark (The late Debra) and Kenneth Eugene Clark (Donna); his beloved companion “Chloe” the Chihuahua, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceding him in death were his father, Preston A. Clark and his brother, Robert W. Clark.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 6th at Omps, South Chapel and on Friday, July 7th from 10:00 am until the time of the service beginning at 11:00 am at Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Omps Funeral Home.

If this is the Gary Clark who was stationed at Ft. Riley in Kansas when I was in the service, my condolences to his family. Would like to know if he is the Gary Clark I knew.

Frances, we are so sorry to hear of the loss of your two sons. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. We have been out of town several weeks and unable to attend the services but know that we are thinking of you.

I wish I could turn back the hands of time of when you lived across the street from us and Preston was living and Kenny was just a young lad.... Time flys sure sure... I knew Gary from his membership in Valley Cruisers. He was always smiling and happy to assist with everything. Gary was very well loved by all the members. I am sorry to hear of his passing and wish the best to his family. You will have a difficult road ahead for awhile, have faith in the Lord to get you through. May God bless you now and forever.

Gary was always uplifting others & an absolute joy, whose mere presence brightened everyone's day! His dedication & service to others was evident in the various organizations . His laughter, kindness & zeal for life will long be remembered! Love, thoughts & prayers to his family and friends who mourn his passing! Job well done..... oh faithful servant!!!!!!!!!

Dad, I can't believe your gone, you were a superhero to me when I was little, I used to look at your war medals, weightlifting, martial arts and car trophies and think wow my dad has done it all and he had, he always said you'll never be able to fill my shoes and even though I wear a 12 and him an 8 boy was he right, he was a friend to all and always had a joke up his sleeve to make you laugh and smile. It made me proud when people would talk about you like the legend of a person you were. But I will always remember you as the man who was larger than life, I love ya daddy, so spread your wings and fly, no more pain, no more suffering, watch over us as our gaurdian angel and I'll see you when I get there, love ya pops, Matthew.
