Freda E. Porter
Freda Evelyn Frankenberry Porter, 79, of Winchester, Virginia, died Sunday, November 27, 2011, in a local nursing facility.
Mrs. Porter was born in 1932 in Mount Salvage, Maryland, the daughter of the late Milner B. and Henora M. Frankenberry. She was a glazier in the finishing department of Hinkle Harris Furniture, retiring in 1985 after 18 years of service. Mrs. Porter was a member of Second Opequon Presbyterian Church.
Freda was the beloved and loving wife of William Terrence Porter whom she married on August 14, 1982. in Winchester, Virginia.
Her first husband, Hinkle B. Pitcock, Sr., preceded her in death on September 15, 1977.
Surviving with her husband, are three daughters, Carol Dodd and her husband, Dennis, of Painsville, Ohio, Sharon Glynn and husband, Richard, of White Post, Virginia; Dale Campbell of Winchester, Virginia; step-daughter, Carol Fishel and husband, John, of Winchester; son, Ricky Pitcock and wife, Kathryn, of Upperville, Virginia; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and four great grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; three step great-great grandchildren.
Her son- in- law, John T. Campbell; four sisters and four brothers, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Mr. Alan Morrison officiating. Interment will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon, from 2:00-4:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
