Franklin “Frank” Roosevelt Madigan, 78, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, in his home, surrounded by his family, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Madigan was born in Stephens City, Virginia, the son of the late Lawrence and Margarite Madigan. He was formerly a foreman at Henkel Harris for 19 years, he owned and operated F&M Painting for 15 years. Mr. Madigan was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Gerrardstown, West Virginia. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Madigan was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He married Freeda May Gardiner on December 29, 1955, in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife are four daughters, Diana L. Owens and her husband, Ronald, of Cross Junction, Virginia, Joyce A. Richards and her husband, Joseph, Linda F. Lowers and her husband, David, Sandra E. Zuckerman and her husband, Stanley, all of Winchester, Virginia; eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Estelle Pitta and husband, Rondo, of Winchester, Virginia, Norma Mae Lucas of Stephens City, Virginia, Delsie Arnold of Clear Brook, Virginia, his brother, Marshall Madigan and wife, Thelma, of Star Tannery, Virginia and sister-in-law, Valley Madigan of Stephens City, Virginia.
His son, Terry Allen Madigan, sister, Arminta Marie Fridley and brother, Merton Madigan, preceded him in death.
A Celebration of his Life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Chaplain Peter Ford officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
