Frances P. Price of Frederick County, Virginia passed away March 17, 2021 at Winchester Medical Center. Fran was a resident of Orchard Woods Care Center.
Fran was born in 1930 in Marietta, Ohio, daughter of the late Eugene and Jessie Palmer. She attended Marietta College, and was a graduate of Ohio University, where she earned a degree in Home Economics.
Frances married David Price, her childhood sweetheart, also of Marietta, Ohio in June 1952. They lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New Jersey before settling for retirement in Virginia in 1994.
Known by many titles in her lifetime, Fran was a daughter, a sister, a mother, an aunt, and a grandmother. She was a devoted wife to, and is survived by, her husband of almost 69 years, David Price. She was the loving mother of Scott Price of Clinton Township, NJ and Elizabeth Price of Murfreesboro, TN, and a mother to her daughter-in-law Julianna Dolfinger-Price of Clinton Township, NJ.
Fran was ‘Nana’ to her granddaughters Brittanie, Sophia and Lydia and ‘Grandma Fran’ to her grandsons Alex and Landon. She showed her love for her grandchildren by supporting them in their many endeavors and educational pursuits. Surviving are her two sisters; Ann (Lane) Kline of Raleigh, NC (sons Steve, Mike and Tim) and Jane Reid (brother-in-law Paul, sons Mark, Brian and Andrew) of Marietta, Ohio. She was dearly loved and cherished by her family.
Fran created a home filled with love and beauty that was welcoming to all, whether family members, dear friends or a new acquaintance. She loved meeting people and would quickly invite them for a delicious homemade meal. She baked blue-ribbon quality pies and cakes, enjoyed sewing, and taught her skills patiently to anyone interested in emulating her creativity. Frances took pleasure in reading, gardening, raising goats and learning new skills like fly fishing.
Frances loved everything about the beach (big waves, warm sand, sunsets and collecting sea shells), especially laughter filled family vacations with her sisters and their families.
The words that best describe Fran are ‘patient, humble, generous, loving, and kind’. She was a true, genuine friend, always making time to help someone else. Engaged in quiet, selfless service, Fran helped various community organizations during the course of her life, including Meals on Wheels, and bringing cheer to nursing home residents.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Winchester Ward, Fran served in numerous church positions including President of the local Relief Society, an organization for women. She also had a passion for Family History research. Fran lived by faith, and her great love for the Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a woman of charity, who ‘lost herself’ in service and good works to others.
“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.” (Matthew 16:24 – 27)
Fran will be dearly missed by her family and those who knew her. Until we meet again.
