Frances L Moyer, 88, of Linden, Virginia passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, December 6, 2018.

Frances was born July 31, 1930 in Washington, DC, the daughter of the late Alton & Marion (Sweeney) Cox. After graduating from Anacostia High School, she married Robert Moyer on September 10, 1948. Fran and Bob started their lives together in Washington, DC, raised their family in Oxon Hill, Maryland and eventually retired to Linden, Virginia. Anywhere she went Fran was active in volunteer work and community service. Her earlier days were spent coaching youth sports and leading scouts. She served on the Athletic Booster Board at Potomac High School for many years as well as the Civic Association of Birchwood City and Apple Mountain. Recently she worked at the Senior Center, the Salvation Army and the Jolly 60’s. However, Fran’s true passion was for her family and friends, she never missed celebrating a holiday, a milestone or any event her children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren participated in.

Bob preceded Fran in death on February 16, 2006.

Surviving are her children, Linda Walsh of Corpus Christi, TX, Karen Butler (R.L.) of Clifton, VA, Patricia Fort of Corpus Christi, TX, Donna Reeves (Scott) of Spotsylvania VA, Robert Moyer of Centreville, VA, and James Moyer (Chrissi) of Berryville, VA, 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; a sister Patricia Baker (Randy); brothers, William Cox (Judy) and John Cox.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 12 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Mike Mayton officiating. Interment will be at Shenandoah Memorial Park. A reception will be held at Omps Reception Center, South Chapel following the Interment.
