Frances (Miller) Carpenter, 74 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center.
Fran was born in Howard County, MD in 1949, the daughter of the late Burton and Doris (Maraskey) Ackerman. She was a graduate of Lenoir Community College in Kinston, NC as a business major and was also “Queen” of the college. Fran retired from Treasure House in Brunswick, MD as store manager, a job she took great pride in doing. She enjoyed making memories, crafting and was the best decorator around. Fran loved traveling to Lancaster, PA, and South Carolina. Fran was known for her deviled eggs. She loved her dogs and most especially loved being “Mimi” to her grandchildren.
Fran is survived by her husband Dennis, whom she married on October 2, 1982, her son, Christopher Reason (Anke); grandchildren, Ashley, Collin, and Charlotte; sister, Donna Mannel (Thomas) and brothers, Michael Maraskey (Karen) and Darryl Ackerman (Debbie).
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sharon Maraskey and her brother, Russell Howard.
A graveside service will be held for Fran on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 1pm in Shenandoah Memorial Park. Officiating will be Pastor Jim Smith of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church.
