Laurence Smith left a message on August 21, 2020:
To the family I am so sorry for your loss of EVERETT. I met EVERETT in OCT of 1968 at G.M.in the paint shop. EVERETT ask me if I would be interested in signing a UNITED AUTO WORKER UNION card. I said yes , signed it and handed it back to him. I worked with him for many years in that paint shop and we became good friends. Every time we would get together we would laugh about me signing that card because EVERETT said to me that most guys would sneak around the corner and sign or not sign at all for fear of being retaliated by the company if they caught you. He said you just grabbed it and signed it in front of everybody. I just knew EVERETT was for real and had the guts to stand up for the working man and cared about what was to become his UNION BROTHERS ans SISTERS. As years went on I only got to see EVERETT at U.A.W. retiree meetings and a picnic now and then but I always looked forward to see his smiling face. EVERETT was a man I looked up to as a Friend ,Union Brother, and just one great person. May GOD be with the family. Everybody will miss you EVERETT Laurence ( Larry) Smith U.A.W. Local 1590 retired

I consider Mr. Riffee a GOOD NEIGHBOR, even though he did not live in my neighborhood. He was never too busy to greet me. He spoke to me and had interesting stories every time in passing. He was a great example to all. I did not see much of him lately, but he will always be remembered by his testimony for the Lord and friendliest to all people. I love his entire family. Praying for you ALL.
