Evelyn Valotto Babcock
Evelyn Valotto Babcock departed this life on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 as a result of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, William and Ruth Wilson of Moorefield, West Virginia; brothers, Wayne and Merle Wilson; and her husband of 55 years, A. J. Valotto.
She is survived by her son, Merle Wilson Fallon; daughter-in-law, Vicki Glascoe Fallon; grandchildren, Emma Fallon and Bailey Fallon Defibaugh; and nephew, Stephen Wilson. Also surviving is Evelyn’s husband of eight years, Dr. Fenton Babcock and his daughter, Ann Babcock Walters.
Evelyn was born in 1924 in Moorefield, West Virginia. She graduated from West Virginia University and became an educator in the Fairfax County School System in the early 1950’s. She received advanced degrees from George Washington University and Columbia University. Evelyn served as a teacher, reading specialist, administrator and principal in Fairfax County, Virginia. She set up the Kindergarten Program for Fairfax County Public Schools in the early 1960’s. Since 2002, she has resided at Shenandoah Valley Westminster Canterbury in Winchester, Virginia.
