Evelyn I. Chandler
Evelyn Napier Chandler, 82, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away Friday, February 18, 2011, in a local nursing facility.
Mrs. Chandler was born in 1928, in Lee County, Virginia, the daughter of the later Andrew and Elizabeth Napier. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. Mrs. Chandler was an avid gardener and collector of fine antiques. She loved spending time with those she loved, including the family dog, Gretel.
She married Curtis Edmond “Ed” Chandler on June 9, 1954.
Surviving with her husband is her son, David Chandler and his wife, Christy, and her granddaughter, Beth Chandler all of Winchester, Virginia. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Three sisters, Maxie Evans, Zessie Stapleton, Nettie Kirk, and five brothers, Woodrow, Tunis, Hubert, Lawrence and Clarence Napier, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Reverend Waverly G. Reames officiating. Interment will be in Lee Memorial Park, Lee County, Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, from 2:00-4:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
