Evelyn “Jo” McDaniel

Mrs. Evelyn Josephine “Jo” McDaniel, age 83, of Winchester, VA, died Friday, December 7, 2012, at Winchester Medical Center, the daughter of the late Lewis Frank and Mamie Pearl McDonald. She was a treasurer for L. F. McDonald, Inc., retiring in 2009 after 30 years of service. She was of the Presbyterian faith, and a member of the Moose Lodge #1283.

Jo married Loring “Bobby” McDaniel on January 31, 1944 in Hagerstown, MD. Mr. McDaniel passed away on April 26, 1995.

Surviving is a daughter, Delores Clark and husband Dennie of Frederick County, VA ; sons Roger L. McDaniel and wife, Joyce and Robert L. McDaniel and wife, Beth, all of Frederick County, VA; 9 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 1 step great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister Virginia P. Earls of Orlando, FL; and brothers Charles P. “Bucky” McDonald of Delano, FL, and Godfrey “Butch” McDonald of Deland, FL. She was preceded in death by sister Janet Louise Haines, and brothers Lester Grover McDonald and Lewis Frank McDonald.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 11 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 12 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Clarence Davis, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. McDaniel’s grandsons, John Haines, Steve Haines, Chris McDaniel, Ronald Clark, Chris Clark, and Dustin Luttrell. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandsons.

Contributions in memory of Mrs. McDaniel may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.

We have lost a very special grandma and dear friend. She was never afraid to speak her mind! She loved her family more than anything. We have been blessed to have her in our lives. We will greatly miss Grandma Jo. Kendall &I will miss our Saturday mornings we spent with her. She has always been the one to call and check on us and make sure the kids were doing ok. She loved sharing Kendall stories with her friends. I am so glad my children got to spend time with her and see what an amazing loving person she was. They will miss her dearly. I will miss our Monday bingo nights watching her with her friends. I want to thank everyone at Round Hill for noticing when she wasn't there for whatever reason and always calling to check on her. She loved you guys, especially Karl's storiea @ her! Grandma Jo I will miss you but I am glad you have been reunited with your eloved Bobby after 17 years.
